Here’s a list of the Australian exports hit by restrictions in China

SINGAPORE — China is Australia’s largest trading partner and a top export destination.

Australia is one of the few developed nations on Earth that exports more into China than it imports from China. In the 2018-2019 fiscal year, China took in about 32.6% of all Australian exports — that is about 153.2 billion Australian dollars ($116.79 billion). By far the largest export was iron ore.

The relationship between the two countries has deteriorated since Australia supported a call for an international inquiry into China’s handling of the coronavirus, which was first reported in the Chinese city of Wuhan. Last month, Australian news outlets reported that the Chinese embassy there had threatened the Australian government and handed over a list of alleged grievances toward Canberra.

Australia Cricketers To Make "Barefoot Circle" Anti-Racism Gesture In India Series

The Australian men's cricket team will form a "barefoot circle" before the upcoming series against India to demonstrate opposition to racism and celebrate Aboriginal culture, vice-captain Pat Cummins said Monday. Cummins said the decision came after discussions within the team, which was criticised by West Indies great Michael Holding for not taking a knee during a tour of England in September. The practice of gathering barefoot on the pitch before a series was introduced by the Australian women's team this year at the urging of all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner, who has Aboriginal heritage.

But in the year before his death, he had fallen on hard times. There had been a relationship break-up and bullying at work. Newly unemployed and struggling with his mental health, he moved back in with his mum.

Different Uses of Rubbing Alcohol for Cleaning

Rubbing alcohol is not only great for treating wounds; it is an excellent cleaning agent as well. It can disinfect and kills germs effectively. What’s more, rubbing alcohol evaporates quickly and doesn’t streak the surfaces you clean with it. It can remove dirt, grime, grease, and resides from any surface. End of lease cleaners in Maroubra use it while completing jobs and recommend its usage.

For my readers, I’m going to share the different uses of rubbing alcohol for cleaning. Read on to know some great tips.

It Can Disinfect

After the seasons of flu and cold, it is best to improve household hygiene. You need to clean the viruses that may be present on surfaces, points of contacts, and objects. To do so, you can make a disinfectant with 50 % water and 50% rubbing alcohol. Mix the solution in a spray bottle. For a more potent antiviral and antibacterial solution, add a few drops of essential oils like tea tree or lavender. You can spray this solution over the surfaces and objects you wish to disinfect, let it sit for 5-10 minutes then wipe clean with a microfiber cloth.

Cleans Glass

From your windows to your mobile screens, rubbing alcohol can clean them and disinfect as well. Dirt, grime, and other debris can accumulate on glass windows, mirrors, tabletops, and screens of different devices. To clean these surfaces, you need to make a solution of water and rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle and wet a microfiber cloth with it. Run the fabric over the surface in a circular motion. It will not only clean the glass surfaces but shine them as well.

DIY Hand Sanitizer

If you don’t want to use a hand sanitizer with Triclosan in it, you can always make your DIY hand sanitizer. To make one, you will need clear Aloe Vera gel, rubbing alcohol, moisturising oil like almond or vitamin E oil, and your preferred essential oil. Add two parts Aloe Vera gel, one part rubbing alcohol, 10-15 drops of the essential oil, and one tablespoon of the nourishing oil in a squeeze bottle. You DIY sanitiser is complete. You can decide to put it in different sized bottle for keeping at different places in your house.

Endnote

All the benefits of rubbing alcohol I have shared were collected after extensive research. I read cleaning tips of many reputed bond cleaners in Maroubra, including my favourite on here https://www.bondcleaning.sydney/end-of-lease-cleaning-maroubra/. I hope you find the tips helpful and apply them in your daily life as well.

Looming changes for FIFO employees in Western Australia

There could be interesting changes (challenges?) ahead for Australian mining’s fly-in-fly-out (FIFO) workers, at least for the foreseeable future.

Whilst the sector has certainly seen some changes since the pandemic that is covid-19 hit the world, they could well pale by comparison to those in the pipeline. Australia, and one state in particular, leads the world when it comes to the use of FIFO mine employees. The state currently has between 6000 and 7000 interstate FIFO workers employed in its massive mining sector. They fly in and out from other states, many from Queensland. Or at least they did until covid struck the country.

SYDNEY OFFICE RENTS TIPPED TO FALL AS MORE COMMERCIAL PROPERTIES VACANT

Hello There,

I have been working in the technology industry for ten years, but have never been as devastated as I am feeling right now. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought the worst news for our industry. I have been blessed that I own an office in Sydney and have been supplying technical support service to customers throughout the lockdown period. However, I did have to face reduced sales and employ more people to provide service to my loyal customers. It took a toll on my finances and I was struggling with payments. I requested my landlord to reduce the rent temporarily. So I decided to move away from the expensive shops to a small one, but I feared losing my clients. Then one day a property manager told me that the rental prices were falling in my location and some of the landlords were offering incentives too. I thought that it was ideal for my business so I made a move and it worked for me. I am surprised that the rental prices have fallen so much in a place like Sydney but COVID-19 has done it. I am sure the landlords are also in a tough spot right now. If you want to know about the falling office rents, then take a look at the article shared below.

This is the fastest way to get permanent residency in Australia'

Nearly 4,000 applicants jumped administrative queues of the standard visa program to secure permanent residency through this high-priority pathway in the last financial year, despite the onset of the coronavirus pandemic that brought migration to a near halt and forced Australia's international borders shut.

Aimed to headhunt highly skilled technologists, the Global Talent Independent (GTI) scheme was launched in November last year to combat competition from other popular global destinations for skilled migrants – namely the US, UK and Canada.

This is unlikely to be a budget for Australia's working mums

Two years ago, the government legislated tax cuts for delivery more than five years into the future. The tax cuts were legislated on the expectation of a surplus, not a $95 billion deficit. They were also intended to return bracket creep to the middle – which is best achieved by raising the rate brackets not cutting the rates. This year, there is no bracket creep.

The Stage 3 tax cut, removing the 37 per cent rate, delivers a permanent benefit of $7000 a year to anyone with $200,000 or more – it’s a tax cut for the top 1 per cent, not just those doing it tough.

What living in Australia could look like by 2060, according to nation's top scientists

Top scientists have delivered an ominous outlook for Australia's future, declaring its quality of life is a risk of sinking to bleak levels over the next four decades.

New CSIRO research released last week found incomes in Australia could almost double, access to affordable housing may improve and less would be spent on energy bills by 2060 but only if the federal government rapidly adapts to global challenges.

If that doesn't happen, however, the research suggests Australia will only sluggishly grow.

The stakes are high for Facebook and Google if Australians decide to get their news elsewhere

Global tech giants Google and Facebook are using the Australian public as human bargaining chips as they raise the stakes in their bid to block what would be world-leading laws to end the conceit that news content is a free natural resource.

While the legislation in question is complex and technical – the product of more than 18 months review and consultation – the political battle is totemic: should big tech be responsible for its impact on our broader democracy?

The federal government has not ruled out organising rescue flights for Australians stuck overseas, the deputy prime minister, Michael McCormack, has said.

Australia’s foreign policy needs a strategic update

The 2020 defence strategic update has been a welcome first step for many who see Australia’s place in the world and our region become increasingly insecure. Beijing’s recent demonstration of its willingness to leverage its economic weight to punish unwanted behaviour has contributed to existing anxieties about Chinese military expansion in the South China Sea and the wider region.

China’s rise has coincided with the apparent decline of Asia’s regional security guarantor. With the United States’ once unassailable political, economic and military power now looking like it will be seriously tested in the decades to come, the plan to upgrade Australia’s own deterrence capabilities laid out in the update seems eminently desirable, if not entirely necessary. However, there’s little point in investing heavily in the development and acquisition of those capabilities if the ‘other elements’ of national power mentioned in the update are neglected.

Coronavirus outbreak has led to more border restrictions. See where in Australia you can travel and which suburbs are now hotspots

As coronavirus begins to spread around Australia again, state and territory governments are taking action at their borders and looking to significantly limit interstate movement.

And, as has generally been the case through the pandemic, each government has handled the situation differently, meaning the rules vary from state to state.

It's also very much a moveable feast as the situation is changing rapidly.

But as of Wednesday afternoon, this is how things currently look.

South Korea and Australia are experiencing 'second waves', but for different reasons

South Korea and Australia, countries heralded for controlling initial coronavirus outbreaks, are grappling with the management of so-called “second waves.”

At the beginning of the pandemic, South Korea was panned as one of the worst-hit countries outside China in February. Cases escalated in its capital, with most linked to a cluster from a religious group.

The South Korean government was very quick to establish widespread testing and contact tracing, as well as lockdowns.

7 Ways Bookkeepers Can Help Improve Cash Flow

Hello People,
I have been in the company of bookkeepers who have always kept me entertained with their stories of pulling businesses out of a financial crisis or taking it to a new height. Since my wife is a bookkeeper, we have several friends in the same sector who keep frequenting our house and have become like family. So when our daughter decided to become a stylist, her mother was not very happy. I was shocked to know because she loves dressing up and has always had a strong taste in fashion. We talked about it and she told me that she had been influencing Samantha all through her life with her bookkeeping skills but she picked fashion over accounting. I understand that bookkeeping is an important part of our lives and businesses, but then everyone should have the freedom to choose their career. So, however, a few years passed and my daughter started her own fashion boutique and she needed bookkeeping advice. So obviously she turned to her mother, who had now retired and was not getting involved too much. Anyway, the business started plummeting and suffering financially. Well, the reason was that Martha wanted to show her the importance of bookkeeping. It was also the point when I discovered that bookkeepers can help in improving cash flow through their advice and guidance. We all learnt the significance of a bookkeeper when Martha was able to get Samantha back on track. Things are much better between them. Due to a change of heart Samantha has now enrolled for a certification in bookkeeping and accounting and is going to learn the craft further from her mother. It has been great to see them bond once again after so many years and I glad that it happened because of bookkeeping. Of course, coming back after the debacle was not easy for the boutique as there was serious cash deficit. However, tactics like invoicing frequently and bank account reconciliations helped us to find out that there was actually a fraud going on in the company and the culprit was a close associate of my daughter. We were relieved to find out the problem and got rid of the person without any delay. Then we reduced the business expenses and managed the debts efficiently to come back with a bang. The boutique is now a recognised brand in our region and we are getting new orders and clients every day.

Australia uses digital tools for personalised health support

Treatment effectiveness, health care costs and quality of life outcomes for the two to four percent of Australians with the heart condition atrial fibrillation (AF), could be markedly improved under a new research project now underway in western Sydney.

The project is a collaboration between the University of Sydney’s Westmead Applied Research Centre (WARC) and the Australian Government-funded Digital Health Cooperative Research Centre (DHCRC).

The project will use a successful engagement tool used in the US to improve patient engagement and adherence to immunisation and medications, adapting it to provide personalised management and support to AF patients who have a wide variety of healthcare needs.

Australia offer Alcott support, plan full programme for Melbourne

SYDNEY (Reuters) - Tennis Australia have offered their support to Dylan Alcott over his disappointment at the wheelchair events being cut from the U.S. Open and said they were optimistic of running a full programme at January's Australian Open.

Australian Alcott, who has won 10 Grand Slam wheelchair singles titles including two at Flushing Meadows, on Thursday slammed organisers for cutting his events from the Aug. 31-Sept 13 tournament, describing it as "disgusting discrimination".

The coming of age of Australia’s relations with China

The total loss of innocence in Australia’s bilateral relationship with China over the past few months reminds me of a scene in the classic 1986 coming-of-age film Stand by Me. When asked around the campfire what food he would eat if he could have only one for the rest of his life, Vern, the film’s most loveable character, emphatically says, ‘That’s easy. Pez. Cherry flavour Pez. No question about it.’ These are the questions that seem important to young boys until they discover girls, the film’s narrator observes.

With Vern-like enthusiasm (and even without the imperative to choose one) successive Australian governments hitched our prosperity to a single market, China. Ever-stronger economic and trade ties to China would benefit us ad infinitum, the loudest voices said, come what may—no question about it.

Australia sees China as main suspect in state-based cyberattacks, sources say

The comments came after Prime Minister Scott Morrison said a “sophisticated state-based actor” had spent months trying to hack all levels of the government, political bodies, essential service providers and operators of critical infrastructure.

“We know it is a sophisticated state-based cyber actor because of the scale and nature of the targeting,” Morrison told reporters in the capital, Canberra, but declined to say who Australia believed was responsible.

PCB chief says he does not see T20 World Cup happening later this year in Australia

Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ehsan Mani on Wednesday said he does not see the T20 World Cup taking place later this year in Australia, saying the cricketing world can’t take risk in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mani’s comments came a day after Cricket Australia chairman Earl Eddings conceded that the global T20 showpiece seems “unrealistic” as it will be difficult to fly in 16 teams to the country.

“We have had a lot of discussions and the feeling is it (T20 World Cup) would not be possible this year. ICC has World Cups lined up in 2021 and 2023, so we have a gap year where we can adjust this event,” Mani told reporters.
